In defence of the slow correction

Publishing a fix quietly is not humility. It is a missed chance to show how the work is done.

A correction printed in full, with the reasoning attached, does more for trust than a silent edit ever will. Readers are not surprised that mistakes happen; they are surprised when nobody says so.

The argument against is always speed. But the cost of being briefly wrong in public is smaller than the cost of being permanently unreliable.
